I am preparing for an annual weekend with my mastermind group & Marie Forleo. Believe me when I say the time we spend together really help me to hone in on the purposeof my business. I am so pumped because I feel that I’ve come such a long way in a year.
Last year during this same weekend, I was a total wreck. I was working two jobs (one to pay the bills, and one to support my dream of starting my own business and making a difference in people’s lives). My energy was toxic, my nails were bitten down past the cuticles…yep, I was a mess.
Fast-forward one year, and I am so fortunate to say that I am in a much different, much better place. My mastermind group has a lot to do with this, and I am so thankful that I found such a great group of women. I understand, however, that many entrepreneurs choose not to take part in such a group, or simply cannot due to financial or personal reasons.
So, I want to share with you some of the nuggets that really stuck with me over the past year that helped me…and I hope they help you, too.
Focus, focus, focus!!!
I cannot stress this enough. This first lesson is so critical, especially when you are just starting out. It’s easy to get distracted or to want to bite off more than we can chew. I fell into this trap and wanted to launch more than one offering, and thought I could easily do that. But you know what? No matter how well I knew my stuff, I still had a lot to learn, and I was learning as I went along. It was overwhelming! So, I scaled back, offered one service for a great price, honed it, got feedback, revised it, and then offered it at a higher price. By doing this, I gained so much clarity, and I bet you will, too.
There’s a saying that ‘it’s better to give than to receive but I believe that by giving you will receive. As I mentioned, I was flopping around like a fish trying to offer too many services to too many people when a friend in my mastermind group reached out for help. She was having a hard time closing clients, and I figured I would share some of my sales strategies that I learned from all my years selling. Little did I know how much that phone conversation would change my business. From that call and helping my friend find her authentic sales voice to close more sales, I found my niche. No more flopping around like a fish!
What goes around comes around, and if you give back, you will get back, too.
Never, ever give up. Ever!
You have a dream. It is your right to go after – and fulfill that dream. Whether it is to launch an online business or swim across the English Channel, that dream is yours. Please do not let self-doubt or anyone else’s doubt destroy that dream. Sure, there will be times when you want to throw in the towel, but if you are meant for this, have the hunger and the focus, you will achieve it. You gotta fight like hell for your dream, but if you don’t fight for it, who will?
Please take these three lessons to heart. Print them out, put them on your wall, memorize them. These three nuggets can help you, just like they helped me.
